Jacqueline Wilson Creative Writing Prize 2017

Organised by the Penguin Random House Children’s, young writers are asked to write a letter to someone who lives far away which is no more than 750 words long. Letters must be fictional, they cannot be narratives of true events and they cannot feature real people.

Postal entries should be addressed to: Jacqueline Wilson Creative Writing Prize 2017, Penguin Random House Children’s, 80 Strand, London WC2R 0RL.

Only one entry per person is allowed and stories cannot have multiple authors. All entries should be submitted in English.

    There is no entry fee.

Open to 7-12 year olds resident in the UK or Ireland.

The top 20 shortlisted entries will then be read and judged by Jacqueline Wilson, a Penguin Random House editor, a representative from First News, The National Literacy Trust and a representative from WHSmith.

The winning letter will be published in an upcoming Jacqueline Wilson novel. The winner will also receive 100 GBP worth of books, a year's subscription to First News, books for their school and the chance to meet Jacqueline Wilson.
