    The Nelligan Prize For Short Fiction 2019

    Organised by the Colorado State University’s Center for Literary Publishing, The Nelligan Prize for Short Fiction is open to writers from all over the world.

    There are no theme restrictions, but stories must be at least 10 pages (or 2500 words) but no more than 50 pages (12,500 words). Stories must be previously unpublished.

    All manuscripts must be typed and double-spaced.

    This year’s final judge is Joan Silber.

    Entry fee is 15 USD per story; there is no limit on the number of entries you may submit.


    Open to anyone worldwide.


    2,000 USD will be awarded for the best short story, which will be published in the fall/winter 2019 issue of Colorado Review.

    Winner will be announced by mid-June 2019.
