The Caterpillar Story For Children Prize 2017

The Caterpillar is the younger sibling of The Moth, a magazine of poems and stories and art for grown-ups. The Caterpillar is for kids between the ages of 7 and 11(ish), though grown-ups are bound to like it too. It appears four times a year (in March, June, September and December) and, like The Moth, is jam-packed full of new artworks and ’wordworks’.

For the third year running The Caterpillar Story for Children Prize is now open for entries for a story written by an adult for children (aged 7–11).

Entries must be entirely the work of the entrant and must never have been published, self-published, published online or broadcast. You can enter as as many stories as you like. There is a word limit of 1,500.

Worldwide copyright of each entry remains with the author.

Entry fee is 12 Euro (approx. 13.5 USD) per story.

Open worldwide to anyone over 16.

The three prizes are as follows:

    • 1st prize: 500 Euro plus a 2-week stay at The Moth Retreat
    • 2nd prize: 300 Euro
    • 3rd prize: 200 Euro

All entrants to the competition will be notified by email by 14 November 2017, including those who have not been successful. The winners will be announced in December, to coincide with publication of the winter issue of The Caterpillar.
