    The Brighton Prize 2018

Founded in 2014, the Brighton Prize exists to find inventive new writing, stories that work on the stage as well as they do on the page, that challenge with new ideas while staying beautifully simple.

    There are two main categories:

Flash fiction (up to 350 words)
Short stories (between 1000 and 2000 words)

Stories entered must be in English and unpublished. Your story must not be submitted to any other competition or publication before the publication of the shortlist. International entries are accepted providing they are written in English.

Judges this year are booker-longlisted novelist Alison MacLeod, literary agent at The Bent Agency Sarah Manning, and novelist and Brighton Prize director, Erinna Mettler.

Short story entries cost 8 GBP (approx. 11 USD), and Flash fiction entries cost 6 GBP (approx. 8 USD).
