Supernatural & Fantastical Short Story Competition

To celebrate author A.J Hartley touring the UK in July, and with the support of Waterstones and BBC Radio Lancashire, UCLan Publishing is organising a Supernatural & Fantastical Short Story Competition.

Simply write your short story (no more than 500 words) using the portrait of Pauline in the Yellow Dress (image on the contest’s website) as inspiration. What do you think she’s plotting – is it good or evil?

Your entry doesn’t have to be a ghost story but it should fit into the supernatural and fantasy genres.

Only one entry per person allowed. All entrants retain copyright in their entry.

    There is no entry fee.

Open to anyone aged between 11 and 18 and resident in the United Kingdom.

The 6 shortlisted titles (3 for the category 11yrs to 14 yrs and 3 for 14yrs to 18yrs) will be announced at an event at the Harris with A.J Hartley and Barry Cunningham on the 18th July 2018. Also, the 6 shortlisted titles will be published as a collection by UCLan Publishing, and the overall winner will receive a year’s worth of books. That’s a book a week for a whole year!

The winner’s name will be announced on 21st July 2018 at NYALitFest The Supernatural & Fantastical event.
