Mslexia Women’s Short Story Competition 2018

Organised by Mslexia, a British magazine for women who write, the Women’s Short Story Competition is back for its tenth year, now as part of their Women’s Fiction Awards.

The competition is open to women of any nationality from any country and welcomes stories between 300 and 3,000 words in length (not including the title) on any subject.

Entries should be in English (or English dialect) and should not have been published or accepted for publication elsewhere.

Please submit your work typed, double-spaced on A4 pages, single sided, with pages numbered. Permitted file types are: .doc, .docx, .rtf, .pdf, .txt, .pages. Maximum allowed file size is 1Mb.

Copyright of any entry remains with the author, but Mslexia has the unrestricted right to publish the winning entries in its magazine, on its website, and in any related material for PR purposes.

Entry fee of 10 GBP (approx. 14 USD) per story.

Open wordlwide to unpublished women writers.

As well as the top prize of 5,000 GBP (approx. 7,020 USD), the winner will also have the prestige of being published in Mslexia, a credit shared with writers like Costa winner Angela Readman and novelist Peggy Riley.

In addition, there is the opportunity to spend a week in glorious isolation working on their writing at the stunning Gladstone’s Library, and a day with an editor at Virago.
