    Bristol Short Story Prize 2019

    The Bristol Short Story Prize is an international writing competition that publishes an annual short story anthology as well as giving cash prizes.

    Stories can be on any theme or subject and are welcome in any style including graphic, verse or genre-based (Crime, Science Fiction, Fantasy, Historical, Romance, Children’s etc.). The maximum length of submissions is 4,000 words, there is no minimum length.

    Entries must be entirely the work of the entrant and must never have been previously published, in print or online (including self-published, ebook, magazines, journals, websites, blogs, social network sites), or broadcast or won a prize in another writing competition on or before October 12th 2019.

    All entries must be in English.

    Entry fee of 9 GBP (approx. 11 USD) for each story submitted.

    Eligibility


    Open worldwide to all writers whether published or unpublished. Entrants must be over 16 years old on the closing date, May 1st 2019.

    Prize


    • 1st prize: 1,000 GBP (approx. 1,290 USD)
    • 2nd prize: 500 GBP
    • 3rd prize: 250 GBP
    • Each of the 17 remaining shortlisted writers will receive 100 GBP.

    Moreover, 20 stories will be published in Bristol Short Story Prize Anthology Volume 12.
