    The Plough Prize 2017

Organised by the Plough Arts Centre and supported by the Ronald Duncan Literary Foundation, The Plough Prize is now open for its 2017 edition.

    There are two categories:

    Open Poetry Competition
The Ronald Duncan Short Poem Competition

Maximum length, excluding title and any blank lines: Short Poem - 10 lines, Open Poem - 40 lines. Poems must be the original work of the entrant, unpublished, and must not have won a prize in any other competition.

Each entered poem, including its title, should be typed single-spaced in a standard 10 or 12 point font on one side of a single A4 sheet, with a left margin wide enough for ring binding, and should not bear anything to identify the poet. No fancy/coloured/oversized fonts or images.

The competition will be judged by Michael Symmons Roberts. Copyright remains with the author.

Entry fee: 5 GBP (approx. 6.50 USD) per poem.

Open to anyone worldwide, no age limit.

    • 1st prize 1000 GBP (approx. 1,300 USD) in each category
    • 2nd prize 500 GBP (approx. 650 USD) in each category
    • 3rd prize 250 GBP (approx. 325 USD) in each category
