    Voices 2019 Creative Writing Competition

Voices 2019 is Coram Voice’s fourth annual Voices writing competition for children in care and young care leavers. A platform for the voices of children in and around the care system, the competition promotes a positive image by showcasing young people’s creativity and improving understanding of their experiences.

    There are four age categories:

    Primary school
    Lower secondary school (age 11-14)
    Upper secondary school (age 15-18)
    Care leavers (age 19-25)

Your entry can be a story, a poem, rap, or newspaper article – anything - as long as it is about ‘Growing Up’ and is 500 words or less.

You could write about your experience of growing up so far, how you feel that you’ve changed or grown, or what you hope for the future. Perhaps you’ve got some advice for a younger version of yourself, now that you’re getting a bit older and more experienced.

    There is no entry fee.

Open to young people currently in care and care leavers who will be aged between 4 and 25 years old on 10 February 2019, and who are full-time residents of the UK (this includes the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man), as well as separated minors or former separated minors.

Prizes will be awarded to 24 shortlisted candidates. The shortlisted candidates will receive a book voucher. Third place in each category receives a £25 Love-to-Shop voucher. Second place in each category receives a £50 Love-to-Shop voucher. The winners of each category will receive a £100 Love-to-Shop voucher.

There will be an awards ceremony on Wednesday 10 April, 2019 in central London. The top 24 shortlisted candidates will all receive invitations for themselves and two guests.
